There are many ways to cope with anxiety. Here are three tips that may work for you.
Deep Breathing
Sit in a relaxed position. Inhale through your nose for 4 counts. Hold the breath for 4 counts. Exhale for 4 counts. Repeat until your anxiety subsides.
Journaling
Grab a notebook and a pen and start writing down the thoughts that are swirling around in your mind. Don't worry about grammar or quality. Just write until you can't write anymore and/or you feel like you've gained control over the source of your anxiety.
Catastrophize
Using journaling or meditation, determine the source of your anxiety. Imagine the source of your anxiety happens. Take it to the extreme. What's the worst thing that could happen? Catastrophize the situation. Think about all your worst fears about the situation coming true. This will increase your anxiety initially, but keep going until you hit rock bottom. Now think about what you would do to recover from the situation. Rebuild your life. Mentally revive yourself. Show yourself that you can survive the source of your anxiety, and that everything will be okay.
